Octocrylene is an active that plays a key role in our SPF, broad-spectrum chemical sunscreens.

While Benzophenone is a known byproduct of the degradation of Octocrylene, the FDA has determined Octocrylene to be safe and effective when used with adherence to their strict regulatory guidelines.

COOLA adheres to these FDA guidelines in our development process, which also includes conducting formal OTC stability testing that monitors the level of sunscreen actives over 36 months. In order for products to be put on shelves, the levels of all actives, including Octocrylene, must stay within a very specific range.

Our studies show no observation of any degradation of Octocrylene in any of the COOLA products when used before the expiration date of the product and in adherence to the label directions.
