Yes, COOLA products do not contain coral-harming Oxybenzone or Octinoxate.
The NO Oxybenzone & Octinoxate icon on our sunscreen will note that these sunscreens do not contain octinoxate and oxybenzone —chemicals that negatively impact corals and other marine life.
Some places prohibit using any chemical sunscreen, so check the rules that apply where you live or visit. We suggest checking out our Mineral line of sunscreens for those who prefer physical sunscreen with ingredients like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. These are usually accepted anywhere you go! Shop reef-friendly.
My bottle has the Hawaii Reef Compliant Act 104 icon; what does that mean?
You might still find the Hawaii Reef Compliant Act 104 icon on our bottles, depending on when it was purchased. This icon will note that these sunscreens are Reef Friendly per the Hawaii State Legislature Bill guidelines that prohibit the sale of sunscreen containing octinoxate and oxybenzone. We changed the icon to get straight to the point; our sunscreen does not contain chemicals that negatively impact corals and other marine life.
